The Queen Bee
Look around you - what can you see? The inspiration for a project can come from anywhere or anything. In the words of Paul Smith, "You can find inspiration in everything, and if you can't, look again." (Smith, 2001)
Photography is an integral part of my work. It is a way to record my inspirations on sight, enabling me to take the essence of the source back into the studio. Here it stimulates and prompts my previous thoughts and feelings about an object or subject matter.
Focusing mainly on surface structure, texture, colour and pattern, these feelings are translated into a collection of fabrics. Using a breadth of print, embroidery and manipulative techniques, I create a vast range of fabrics that can be used for either fashion or interiors.
